Overlooking the Victorian kitchen garden, just a stone’s throw from the hotel, is a perfect little gardener's cottage dating from the 17th century - a peaceful retreat on the wooded banks of the River Norr. Sharrow Bay’s ‘jewel in the crown’, is situated about one mile from the hotel and is approached by its own sweeping drive. A 17th century converted farmhouse, it’s gloriously situated overlooking Lake Ullswater with unbelievable views!

There are two lounges where soft sofas jostle for space with antiques, freshly cut flowers and numerous lights which make even grey days bright. In the Refectory Dining Room, there’s a striking Portland stone fireplace and over-mantle which came from Warwick Castle. There are also incredible English silk damask curtains, old English furniture and a specially made carpet which is a copy of one in The Royal Opera House.

Bank House guests enjoy breakfast and afternoon tea in the Refectory Dining Room and join other Sharrow Bay guests for lunch or dinner in the hotel’s Michelin star restaurant. A courtesy car is available to take guests to and from the hotel.

Originally built as a Summerhouse for the Duchess of Sutherland, Spring Cottage is a charming cottage set on the banks of the River Thames, offering the utmost in privacy and escapism as well as the luxury of your own private butler.

Ironically this little haven of pastoral bliss became the centre of a violent political storm in the early ‘60s. It was here that Stephen Ward and Christine Keeler were staying when they triggered the infamous Profumo scandal. So, even the cottage is not without its share of colourful Cliveden history.

Guests not only enjoy total seclusion and tranquillity – they are also provided with their own personal butler, a well-stocked fridge bulging with indulgent provisions, plus a car that’s always available to drive them the short distance to the hotel. It’s also possible to cruise the River Thames in one of Cliveden’s famous vintage launches from the cottage’s private jetty.

This delightful Victorian Gatehouse within the grounds of Thornbury Castle sits in its own pretty garden laid mainly to lawn and enjoys delightful views across to St Mary's parish church. It’s also right next to the hotel’s very own vineyard where the castle's own popular English wine is produced from the grapes harvested. Guests are also able to park right outside the front door.

The Gatehouse has two bedrooms, one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, both with en-suite bathrooms. There’s also a lovely lounge/dining room and a kitchen where snacks can be prepared. Guests are invited to the castle for breakfast and to enjoy one of the most majestic dining experiences imaginable at dinner time.
